Joining bias binding and my absolute favourite way to add a binding to an edge, just like bought clothing, I call it a narrow facing and it can be sewn to either the inside or outside.
I love buttonhole stitch and use it for lots of things, not just handmade buttonholes. The buttonhole page has a few useful tutorials about where to place buttonholes, how to make a buttonhole when your button is too big for your foot, hand sewn buttonholes and other places to use button hole stitch..
